Air & Ground-Based Magnetic Survey Systems

SENSYS fluxgate magnetometer survey kits for drone-based airborne surveys and portable ground surveys — complete systems integrating gradiometer sensors, data loggers, and GPS for geophysical mapping, UXO detection, archaeological prospection, and mineral exploration.

SENSYS Survey Systems

SENSYS GmbH has been designing and manufacturing precision fluxgate magnetometers and electromagnetic survey systems in Germany since 1990. Their survey kits combine dual 3-axis fluxgate gradiometer sensors with an integrated data logger and GPS into a single, ready-to-deploy package — optimized for both drone-based airborne surveys and lightweight ground-based field studies. Candoo Systems is an authorized reseller of SENSYS products across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

MagDrone R3 — Airborne Magnetometer Survey Kit

Overview

The MagDrone R3 is an ultra-portable magnetometer survey kit designed for attachment to any commercial UAV or drone with a minimum payload of just 1 kg. The system consists of an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre sensor tube housing two built-in 3-axis fluxgate sensors (FGM3D/75) with 150 pT resolution, a one-button data logger with internal SD card, rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, and an integrated GPS — all delivered in a rugged transport case.

A defining advantage of the MagDrone R3 is its 200 Hz sampling rate, which allows the sensor tube to be mounted directly to the drone's landing gear — even in close proximity to the motors. The system reliably distinguishes between motor noise, utility frequencies, transient interference, and the ground signal of interest. No additional suspension or vibration-damping hardware is required.

Post-flight, the data can be downloaded to any Windows computer for processing with the included MagDrone DataTool software, or with optional SENSYS MAGNETO® software for advanced mapping and interpretation. Data can also be exported to GIS tools or MATLAB for custom scripting workflows. When paired with a SENSYS MagBase reference station, temporal noise sources such as passing vehicles or utility-frequency fluctuations can be further cancelled for survey-grade results.

The free SENSYS Remote App for Android enables Bluetooth connectivity for pre- and post-flight system checks, live 2 Hz readings, and remote control of data recording — all from a smartphone.

MagWalk — Ground-Based Magnetometer Survey Kit

Overview

The SENSYS MagWalk is an ultra-lightweight, single-person portable magnetometer survey kit built for small and mid-size ground-based field studies. It features a carbon fibre sensor tube with two built-in 3-axis fluxgate sensors (FGM3D/100), a one-button data logger with internal SD card, rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, and an integrated or external GPS — all carried by one operator with an ergonomic handle. Total weight is just 1,600 g, making it practical for extended field sessions over varied terrain.

The sensor tube can be held transversely, longitudinally, or upright beside the body, giving the operator flexibility to adapt to survey geometry, vegetation density, or site-access constraints. The one-button data logger keeps operation simple: press start and walk. The serial live-data output also supports real-time monitoring when paired with external devices.

When combined with the free SENSYS Remote App for Android, the MagWalk provides 2 Hz live readings of all individual sensor axes, absolute field magnitudes, and real-time graphs — enabling in-situ evaluation and on-the-spot investigative decisions. After the survey, the MagDrone DataTool (included) converts raw data into formats ready for SENSYS MAGNETO®, MATLAB, GIS, or other third-party processing platforms.

The complete MagWalk system ships in a protective hard case, with all cables, charger, accessories, and a USB memory stick containing the DataTool software and documentation.
